We love having Taco Tuesday at our home, and tacos are definitely in my kids’ top 3 meal choices. They love to have them anytime, and I swear they never get tired of them. I, on the other hand, can get a bit tired of eating them so often. Don’t get me wrong, I love tacos, but I do like to change things up every once in a while. That is exactly what this recipe is: a spin on regular tacos, served in a new, creative, and tasty way! These taco sticks were super easy to make, and the kids were big fans! Cashton was so cute, he saw me making them and wanted to help! It turned into a fun bonding moment, and in the end, we got a yummy dinner that our family of 7 enjoyed. Here’s how I made them!
Ingredients
1 lb. Ground Beef
1 Packet Taco Seasoning Mix
Chopped Onion and Green Bell Pepper
1 Tube Pillsbury Pizza Dough
Colby Jack and Cheddar Cheese Sticks, halved
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dried parsley
Melted Butter
Mexican Rice – for a side
Sour Cream – as a topping
Instructions
Step 1: Start by preheating your oven to 425°F. While your oven is preheating, take an 18x13in baking sheet and lightly coat it with non-stick cooking spray.
Step 2: Grab your 1 lb. ground beef, mix in the taco seasoning, chopped onion, green bell pepper, and cook it until browned. Once it is done cooking, drain the fat.
Step 3: On your oiled baking pan, spread open the pizza dough and lay it out flat. You’ll then cut the pizza dough into 10 even rectangles.
Step 4: On each rectangle, add the taco meat and half of a cheese stick.
Step 5: Once the rectangles are assembled, take the corners and roll them up into the middle. I made sure to pinch the seams closed so the inside did not spill out.
Step 6: Once all of them were rolled up, I brushed each taco stick with a melted butter, garlic powder, and parsley mixture.
Step 7: Place the taco sticks into the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until they’re golden brown. Serve with a side of Mexican rice and sour cream or your favorite taco toppings.
