How to Organize a Linen Closet: 5 Essential Steps

My linen closet was a hot mess express.  It had become the dumping ground for all bathroom items, and I really just avoided going in it at all costs.  The problem with this is you can’t find anything and then you end up buying duplicates. It was finally time to organize our linen closet. 

I finally had enough and decided to tackle our linen closet.  I was able to transform this space by using only 3 different products from the Container Store. The project only took me two hours from beginning to end. That is of course with some breaks due to being interrupted by my family.

One thing I am very excited to share is I filmed my first Organize With Me video on our Youtube Channel!  When I first started my Youtube channel I felt my home video tutorials were too stuffy. This video is less formal, and just takes you along my journey to organize my bathroom linen closet.

Steps To Organize a Linen Closet:

• Purge – Pull everything out and get rid of everything you have been hoarding.
• Sort – Put your favorite items together in a pile. To get a clear picture on how much storage you need.
• Shop – I kept this budget friendly and only used 4 items to organize.  You don’t have to make this complicated.
• Arrange – Once you get your items it’s time to place them.  I typically place the baskets in first to make the frame of the project, but you can do what works best for you.
• Maintain – The hardest part about being organized is staying organized.  Once you put in the effort to organize your linen closet, make sure to keep up.  I go back weekly through my past organization project and make sure it is still arranged correctly.
