We’ve now taken several family ski trips, and each one has been such a fun experience for all of us! Growing up in Michigan, I practically lived on the ski slopes, but now that my kids are growing up in Texas, skiing isn’t something we do often. I’m always amazed at how naturally it seems to come to them. They pick it right back up every time we go, like they’ve been doing it for years. Even Cece surprised me this year, this was her first time actually skiing, and she did such a great job!
One thing that has definitely gotten easier with each trip is knowing what to pack. After packing and traveling for several family ski trips, I’ve learned so much about what’s truly essential and what’s not. I’ll admit, before our first trip, I was completely overwhelmed by all the gear we needed to buy. Living in Dallas, we don’t really have winter gear, so we were starting from scratch. Plus, everything seemed so expensive when I first started looking!
Thankfully, I love a good deal, and I found ways to get the most bang for my buck when it came to ski gear. Most of our essentials came from Amazon, and they were a fraction of the price compared to other options. Over the years, I’ve also kept everything we’ve purchased, so as one kid outgrows something, it gets passed down to the next. It’s been such a budget-friendly way to make sure everyone has quality gear.
Since we only ski once or twice a year, we’ve chosen to rent our skis instead of buying them. If you ski more frequently, it might be worth the investment to purchase your own equipment, but renting has worked really well for us.
If you’re planning your own ski trip, I’ve got you covered! I’m sharing a full packing list with everything we packed for this trip, along with some affordable options that won’t break the bank. Hopefully, it makes preparing for your family ski adventure a little less stressful and a lot more fun!
