School mornings with five kids can get pretty hectic. From waking them up, to actually getting them out of bed, packing lunches, and making sure all the forms are signed, it feels like so much happens in that one hour! One thing that’s really important to me is ensuring my kids have a peaceful morning. I believe starting the day on the right note sets the mood for the entire day. So when I find ways to make our mornings run more smoothly, I’m all in! And that’s exactly what these clothes organizers have done for us.
I didn’t realize how much time my husband and I were spending each morning figuring out what the kids were going to wear. Whether it was finding matching pants or a missing sock, it always seemed to take longer than necessary when the clothes hadn’t been planned ahead of time. So, I decided that every weekend, after the laundry is done, I’ll pull out the five outfits each of my kids will wear Monday through Friday. And let me tell you, this has been an absolute game changer!
For my daughter, I found this cute pink door hanger that has the perfect amount of space to hold her clothes, hair bow, socks, underwear, and even her potty training diapers. Yes, we’re finally potty training her, and girl, that’s been a whole journey on its own! Having that extra time saved on picking out her clothes has allowed us to really focus on her potty training.
When I fold their clothes, I like to fold their pants with the matching top. It keeps the set together, which is especially handy when my husband is the one dressing the kids. I can’t tell you how many times the kids have come out in the most mismatched outfits because their dad grabbed the randomest combinations, haha! Folding their clothes this way completely eliminates that, and I think Rick really appreciates not having to think about it either.
My 4-year-old and 7-year-old boys share a room, so to save space, I got them this clothes organizer. I can fit both of their outfits side by side, and it’s placed at a height where they can easily reach it. Each morning, they can grab their outfits for the day with no help, which is great because it encourages independence and gives them responsibility. They honestly love being able to dress themselves!
My 10-year-old son typically dresses himself and doesn’t need either me or Rick to decide what he’s going to wear. Trust me, that boy has a serious sense of style! But this year, he has extracurricular activities before school, which means there are mornings when he needs to get up earlier. And let me tell you, he is not a morning person. So, to help him out, I turned an old paper file system into clothes storage for him. I can fit three outfits in it, and he definitely takes advantage of me doing this every week. Even though he’s independent, I love being able to help him with little things like this.
