Growing up, my mom always went all out for us during the holidays. Whether it was waking up to the best Christmas mornings or making sure we all had Easter baskets, she was on it, and Halloween was no exception! I always knew that when I became a mom, I’d do the same for my kids. And here I am, years later with five kids, doing exactly that!
One way my family of seven likes to bond is through our dinners (we’re definitely a food loving family, haha). While bringing out our Halloween decor, I thought I’d surprise my kids with a spooky twist to dinner. My kids love breakfast foods—eggs, bacon, pancakes, you name it, and they’ll devour it! So I like to keep breakfast for dinner in our meal rotation.
I got this waffle maker from Walmart last year and knew this would be the perfect time to debut it. It makes up to seven mini pancakes with cute Halloween shapes like a haunted house, jack o lantern, and my favorite, the ghost.
Of course, we can’t have breakfast without scrambled eggs. I didn’t do anything too crazy with them, just added some toy spiders to fit the spooky theme.
These mummy dogs were super easy to make! All you need are hot dogs and a Pillsbury croissant tube. I rolled out the croissant dough and cut it into thin strips. Then, I wrapped the strips around the hot dogs and baked them at 350°F for 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Once they were done, I added candy eyes to give them that full mummy look!
My kids love fruit, so they got a kick out of this spooky fruit platter. They thought it was hilarious and couldn’t wait to eat it all.
I also picked up these adorable disposable spooky plates—they were all under $3 and made for super easy cleanup!
This meal was so much fun, and I love creating moments like this for my kids. I think holiday themed breakfast for dinner might just become a tradition for the rest of the upcoming holidays!
