Delivering Smiles With Amazon This Holiday Season

It’s so important for my husband and I to teach our boys that the world is so much bigger than our wants and needs. It’s so easy for our boys to become takers, rarely thinking about how they can serve and give back to others especially during the holiday season. We stress to the boys that now more than ever, it’s important to make sure you’re giving back with your time, money, and spirit. 

We have been fortunate to have 4 boys that we are able to provide for and give the best life we ever could. To be honest, they are fortunate to live a life with tons of resources and material things. To keep our boys grounded, we regularly serve and give back to the community, most importantly during the holidays.

Here are 3 Simple Ways My Family is Giving Back This Holiday Season:

Shopping Through AmazonSmile

Shopping through AmazonSmile is an easy way to give back to organizations in need at no extra cost to you. If you start your shopping at smile.amazon.com, you can shop as you normally would on Amazon, but Amazon will automatically donate a portion of the purchase price of eligible items to the charity of your choice.

Donating with AmazonSmile Charity Lists 

My boys love when they get an allowance and always start planning a million and one things to do with their money. However, before the boys do anything with their money, we stress to them they must tithe, save, and give back. Amazon is making it easier than ever to donate to deserving organizations with AmazonSmile Charity Lists. 

All you have to do is visit smile.amazon.com/charitylists, and you can browse by cause or search for your favorite organization’s wish list to have donated items delivered directly to the charity at their designated address. We typically let the boys choose which organization they would like to donate to – and our boys love animals – so we are donating to DFW Humane Society of Irving, Inc. 

The DFW Humane Society rescues unwanted and neglected pets in the Dallas-Fort Worth community and gives them a second chance in life through adoption. Their shelter holds approximately 80 rescued dogs and cats at any time, and with AmazonSmile Charity Lists, we are able to purchase and donate toys, treats, and more to keep the animals healthy, engaged, and entertained. 

Monetary Donations with Alexa

We use Alexa often in our home. Now with the holidays around the corner I am always hearing the boys ask, “Alexa, how many more days until Christmas?” If you’re in the giving spirit and wish to make a monetary donation to your favorite charity, simply say, “Alexa, I want to make donation,” to any Alexa enabled device to get started. Super quick and easy.
