When Fall comes around there is one clothing item that comes to mind. A perfectly fit Plaid shirt. It is a casual staple during this weather transition all the way through winter.  It’s no secret that I love Fall, and Plaids are definitely a major perk to the season.

A few reasons why Plaids are a must have this season:

1. Matches almost everything: You can pair a Plaid shirt with distressed denim or leggings with riding boots. If you have a pair of Hunter boots, these also look great with Plaids.

2. Perfect for casual errand day:  Do you ever have days where you want to put in some effort, but still want to be comfortable? Plaid shirts do this for me. I normally, pair with dark jeans and flats. I pretty much live in flats through on a daily basis, so I love anything that I can pair with my flats.

3. Great transition item: While it is still somewhat warm I will opt to get a plaid shirt that is lighter in material.  This is the same concept for winter time also.  When it is not quite time to pull out sweaters, and you can opt to wear a heavier flannel as you transition to winter.

The only thing that can be an issue with plaid shirts is the fit.  Some companies make it to boxy and don’t do anything for your shape.  A few companies that I typically grab plaids from are Nordstrom, Target, and sometimes Old Navy. Here are some of my favorite plaids this season!

I do have a pet peeve with some stores and maybe it is just me.  Sometimes the fabric of the plaid shirt will be so thin that it so wrinkle prone. And takes like 15 minutes to iron. Ugh! I typically stay away from those as well. I say all that to say make sure the quality of the fabric is good, and pick a shape that is flattering for your body.

P.S. Style it with some feminine accessories to glam it up a bit.

Happy Styling!
