When I asked Cyrus what theme he wanted for his birthday party this year, you should have seen my face when he said the dreaded word: slime. Slime?? Haha! I couldn’t believe it, but I was determined to make it happen!
When I started looking up ideas to pull this off, I quickly realized that full-on slime-themed parties weren’t exactly a thing. Sure, slime making is often an activity or party favor, but an entire party? Not so much. So, I rolled up my sleeves, and got creative. The smile on Cyrus’s face throughout the entire party told me everything I needed to know: mission accomplished!
Happy 7th birthday, Cy! You are so loved, and I’m so happy this party was everything you dreamed of and more!
The Food and Drinks
With 20 kids running around, I knew I had to stick with crowd-pleasers. We went with hot dogs, sliders, pulled pork BBQ sandwiches, and pizza—and let me tell you, the kids devoured everything! La Tablera created the most stunning food spread, as they always do for our parties, and this one was no exception. She’s done so many of our celebrations, and nailed it again this time.
A party with 20 kids naturally meant a lot of parents, too, and I love having a fun cocktail option for the grown-ups! We served “Slimearitas” with the option of a spicy or regular margarita. For the kids, we had “Slimy Lemonade,” which was a huge hit.
It’s not a party without sweet treats! We went with a classic funfetti cake, matching cake pops, and slimed themed cookies, and they were absolutely delicious. Every bite was a hit!
This candy bar was such a fun little project for Cyrus and me to put together. He was so excited about his party that he wanted to help in any way he could! We filled it with gumballs, lollipops, cotton candy, and all kinds of sweet treats, and it turned out so cute! Watching the kids raid the candy bar was just as fun as setting it up.
The Decor and Details
I found an amazing local small business to make the most adorable personalized party favor boxes, and I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out! We filled them with fun slime-themed goodies for each child to take home as a thank-you for celebrating with us.
The backdrop was a total showstopper! The lime-green glow light running across the top of the balloons was such a simple touch, but it added so much to the vibe.
I love incorporating acrylic signage into all our parties, and this party’s backdrop sign and custom drink stirrers were the perfect personalized details to tie everything together. And can we take a moment for the flowers? My amazingly talented friend did a beautiful job putting together floral arrangements that perfectly matched the theme! Their vibrant colors added such a beautiful touch to the party.
